Commissioned research
We use evidence from research to support the OEP’s strategic objectives of sustained environmental improvement, better environmental law and compliance, and organisational excellence and influence. Research improves our understanding of the natural environment, policy, environmental targets, and delivery plans. Evidence from research underpins our ability to act independently and strategically, address emerging challenges, and ensure our interventions and recommendations have maximum impact.
The OEP’s Areas of Research Interest 2026 are published below and in the Government Office for Science database: https://ari.org.uk/. We address our Areas of Research Interest through our own work, by commissioned research, and by supporting and engaging with external research activities.
