The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) commissioned Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS) to carry out an independent review of the statistical methodologies that underpin the assessment of past indicator trends within the OEP’s statutory annual Environmental Improvement Plan progress reports.
BioSS put the OEP’s methodologies into a national and international context by reviewing the methods used by other domestic and international public bodies, and propose alternatives to enhance statistical rigour and robustness.
