The NCC defined natural capital as “those elements of the natural environment which provide valuable goods and services to people, such as the stock of forests, water, land, minerals and oceans”. 

This 2017 publication provides details of the types of decisions for which natural capital values might be useful and some principles to guide the choice of approaches to valuation.
