DAERA has published its official response to the OEP's review on the implementation of the Nutrient Action Programme regulations 2019 Northern Ireland.

In response, OEP Chief Scientist, Professor Robbie McDonald, said: "We welcome DAERA’s response to our report on the existing Nutrient Action Programme (NAP). The department agrees with our overall assessment that further action is needed to address pressures on water quality, particularly those associated with nutrient pollution from agriculture.
"DAERA'S response notes that future management of nutrients will be based on the adoption, implementation, enforcement and monitoring of the updated NAP for 2027 to 2030, on which DAERA is currently consulting. The OEP intends to address the NAP proposals in this consultation separately, reflecting our earlier report and DAERA’s response."
