The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) has won a prestigious award from the Institute of Regulation.
The Innovation in Practice award was presented to the OEP’s Intelligence Team at the Institute’s annual conference on Wednesday (25 March).
It was awarded in recognition of the intelligence system set up within the OEP to ensure the organisation is well informed of developments across multiple sectors and the information is easily accessible by staff.
Natalie Prosser, CEO of the OEP, said: “As a young and relatively small organisation of just over 80 staff, this recognition is especially meaningful. Our intelligence team of only two people built our intelligence system and function in just over a year, and the award reflects their creativity, commitment and determination.
“It also validates our evidence‑led and outcome‑focused approach. At a time when regulatory reform is centred on supporting growth, it shows that we can innovate and deliver at pace while strengthening environmental protection and public trust.”
Nicola Edwards, Head of Intelligence at the OEP, said: “The award is a testament to collaboration. We are grateful to the wider regulatory community for sharing its insight and experience of horizon scanning, which provided a strong foundation for our work.
“This recognition encourages us to keep improving, share what we have learned, and play a constructive role in strengthening the regulatory system.”
Ms Edwards collected the award at the conference alongside her Intelligence Team colleague Emily Connors.
