Dame Glenys Stacey has announced that she will not be seeking reappointment as Chair of the Office for Environmental Protection when her term ends in January.
She has made the decision to step down from the role in order to prioritise time with her family.
Dame Glenys said: “I have hugely enjoyed being the inaugural chair of the Office of Environmental Protection, and I am proud of the organisation. I think it is well-established and already having notable impact. It is set fair.
“I find the job stimulating and extremely worthwhile, but I find myself at that point in my life where I should sensibly strike a different balance as between work and other things in my life, most especially my family.
“I have therefore decided not to seek re-appointment. My term runs for a little time yet, and I will continue to undertake my role as chair of the OEP as enthusiastically as ever, while my term runs.”
