Consultations

Our consultations are an opportunity to listen to the views of those we work with and those affected by our work, making sure we get it right.

Consultation on the draft OEP strategy and enforcement policy

Consultation summary

The consultation on our draft strategy and enforcement policy closed on 22 March 2022.

We will be reviewing all responses and publishing a report summarising what has been said and our response, alongside our final strategy, enforcement policy and our first corporate plan in June 2022. These will be published on our website.

We want your views on how we will carry out our role to hold government and public authorities to account.

We are keen to hear from those who are knowledgeable and passionate about protecting the environment, whether representing an organisation or responding as an individual. We are committed to listening to the views and feedback we receive to help us finalise our approach to our vital work.

This consultation is being held on another website.

OEP draft strategy and enforcement policy consultation

This consultation closed on
11.45pm on 22 March 2022.

Consultation description

We sought views on 2 documents:

  1. Our draft strategy, which explains how we will work in our first period of operation to make the most difference we can. We expect to review it in around 18 months’ time.
  2. Our draft enforcement policy, which explains more specifically how we will approach our enforcement role.

Why your views matter

Listening to the views of those we work with and those affected by our work will be fundamental to making sure we get it right. Our draft strategy and enforcement policy have been shaped by the views of a broad range of stakeholders with whom we engaged in the months leading up to this consultation. These stakeholders have included environmental organisations, government departments, arm’s-length bodies and other public authorities, and business and industry groups.

We launched our consultation on the OEP draft strategy and enforcement policy on 25 January 2022.

Below is a recording of the event divided into sections that introduces the OEP, gives an overview of our work and explains the draft strategy and enforcement policy.
